La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team earned a 190.100 to 184.625 victory over Winona State University (Minn.) Friday night in Mitchell Hall in the Eagles' regular-season home finale.
The Eagles scored 48.125 on the vault; 46.725 on the uneven parallel bars; 46.975 on the balance beam and 48.275 on the floor exercise. The 48.275 was a season-high, surpassing the mark of 48.000 set at the U.S. Air Force Academy January 6.
UWL's
Samantha Wiekamp captured the all-around (36.575) and vault (9.725) titles Friday night.
The Eagles swept all four individual events. Along with Wiekamp taking the vault,
Amy Enright won the uneven parallel bars (9.575),
Jessica Ahrens the balance beam (9.625) and
Sam Weyker the floor exercise (9.750).
UWL took the top-five places in the vault. Along with Wiekamp finishing first,
Ellie Beckman was second (9.675),
Dani Barmore third (9.650), Weyker fourth (9.550) and
Leah Spankowski fifth (9.525). The Eagles also recorded the top-five finishes on the floor exercise Friday. Weyker captured the title (9.750) with Beckman second (9.675),
Lauren Wilson third (9.650), Enright fourht (9.625) and
Jenna Danninger fifth (9.575).
Brooke Kachinsky tied for second (9.550) on the uneven parallel bars while Beckman tied for fourth (9.400) and
Molly Lyngaas was sixth (9.300). The Eagles'
Leah Spankowski finished second (9.600) on the balance beam with Wiekamp fourth (9.425) and Enright fifth (9.350).
