La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's basketball team earned a 85-73 victory over Buena Vista University (Iowa) Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 4-3 on the season while the Beavers drop to 3-4.
Buena Vista (Iowa) raced out to an 18-8 lead on back-to-back three-point field goals from Connor Winkelman and Michael Demers. The Beavers made seven of their first 10 shots from the field. Buena Vista (Iowa) led 23-11 with 11:05 left in the first half when UWL used a 14-2 run to force a 25-25 tie with 6:33 remaining on a
Sam Skoyen three-pointer. The Eagles scored the final points of the half to lead, 36-32, as
Seth Anderson hit a jumper with 1:17 remaining to make it 33-32 and
Ethan Anderson hit a three-pointer with :19 left.

UWL never trailed in the second half as Buena Vista (Iowa) could get no closer than four points. The Beavers trailed, 60-52, with 9:57 left when
Ethan Anderson completed a three-point play and
Ben Meinholz a jumper to give the Eagles a 65-52 advantage. UWL led, 72-57, with 6:55 remaining when Buena Vista (Iowa) went on a 7-0 run to cut the lead to 72-64. The Eagles responded scoring seven of the next 11 points to lead, 81-68, with 2:33 left.
UWL shot 50.8% from the field, including 44.0% (11-of-25) from three-point range, and 90.9% (10-of-11) at the free throw line. The Eagles' 11 three-point field goals made is a season-high.
Ethan Anderson led five players in double figures with a career-high 18 points, going six-of-six from the field, including three-of-three from three-point range, and three-of-three at the line. Skoyen and Meinholz each finished with 11 points Saturday while
Taulvish McCray and
Brendon Manning each had 10. Meinholz finished with a game-high seven assists and three blocks while Manning had a game-high nine rebounds.
Buena Vista (Iowa) shot 43.9% from the field, including 37.0% (10-of-27) from three-point range, and 86.7% (13-of-15) at the line. Garrett Sittner led the Beavers with 13 points while Robert Hawkins and Demers each finished with 12. Hawkins had a team-high four rebounds.
UWL returns to action Sunday, December 9 hosting Wartburg College (Iowa) at 3 p.m.
