Menomonie, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team earned a 4-0 victory at UW-Stout Wednesday night at Nelson Field. The Eagles, tied for 24th in this week's United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll, improve to 12-2-1 overall and 5-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Blue Devils drop to 2-11-1 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
With the victory, UWL extends its winning streak to 11 straight. It is the second-longest winning streak in school history. The Eagles won a school record 16 consecutive in 2017.
The game was scoreless at halftime as UWL totaled all 10 shots. The Eagles got on the scoreboard at 48:29 with
Margaret Harings scoring her eighth goal of the season, assisted by
Natalie Jamison. The game remained 1-0 until
Hannah Beech made it 2-0 at 77:41 with an assist from
Heather Baran. It was the third goal of the year for Beech.
UWL took a 3-0 lead at 80:27 as
Alex Graeber recorded her first goal of the season. Harings finished the scoring with her ninth of the year at 89:35.
UWL totaled 25 shots, including 14 on goal. Harings totaled five shots with four on goal. UW-Stout was held to two shots with one on goal.
Lily Brock (10-1-1) earned the shutout win for UWL, finishing with one save. Melissa Ferrise (0-2) took the loss for UW-Stout, recording 10 saves.
UWL returns to action Saturday, October 20 hosting UW-Eau Claire at 1 p.m.
