River Falls, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team earned a 2-0 victory at UW-River Falls Saturday afternoon at Ramer Field. The Eagles improve to 11-2-1 overall and 4-0 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) in picking up their 10th straight win overall. The Falcons drop to 9-5-1 overall and 2-2 in the conference.
After a scoreless first half, UWL took a 1-0 lead on
Delaney Harnell's unassisted goal at 69:22. The Eagles made it 2-0 at 87:05 with
Kaitlyn Villars getting an unassisted goal.
UWL outshot UW-River Falls, 40-1, including 20-1 in the first half and 20-0 in the second half. The Eagles had 16 shots on goal. Villars (three on goal),
Alex Cording (two) and
Cassie Handrick (two) each finished with six shots while.
Maya Schmitt (two on goal) and
Margaret Harings (one) each had five shots.
Rachel Windingstad recorded the one shot on goal for UW-River Falls.
Lily Brock (9-1-1) earned the win for the Eagles, recording one save. Haley Crosby (2-3-1) suffered the loss for the Falcons, finishing with 14 saves.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, October 17 at UW-Stout at 7 p.m.
