La Crosse, Wis. - Former University of Wisconsin-La Crosse football player and student assistant coach Brian Gutekunst has been named the general manager of the Green Bay Packers, the organization announced Monday.  

Gutekunst was on the UW-La Crosse roster before serving as a student assistant coach from 1994-96. He was the Eagles' linebackers coach in 1995 as UWL finished 14-0 overall and won the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championship.  

He earned his bachelor's degree from UW-La Crosse in sport management.
