Oshkosh, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's and men's swimming & diving teams swept a pair of Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) duals at UW-Oshkosh Saturday. The women's team won by a score of 166-77, and move to 2-0 in the conference. The men won 157-64, and also sit at 2-0 in the WIAC.
The women's team won eight individual swimming events on Saturday, also winning both relays and both diving events.
Kira Pauls
Kira Pauls won the 1000-yard freestyle (11:48.25), with
Victoria Campbell taking the 500-yard free, and
Susan Haack capturing the 50-yard free (25.95).
In the 100-yard butterfly,
Samantha Seymour earned the title (1:01.27), with
Maddie Volk winning the 100-yard freestyle (56.92), and
Lilly Larsen taking the 100-yard backstroke (1:03.47).
Maria Vaudreuil captured the 100-yard breaststroke (1:11.43).
Kayley Alioto
Kayley Alioto swept the diving titles on Saturday, winning the one-meter crown with 271.60 points, and the three-meter crown with 287.50 points.
In the relays, UWL's Volk, Vaudreuil, Seymour, and
Jaime Kloehn won the 200-yard medley (1:53.48), while Kloehn, Campbell, Volk, and Haack took the title in the 200-yard freestyle (1:42.88).
The men's team also won eight individual titles at UW-Oshkosh on Saturday, and captured both relays.
In the 200-yard medley relay,
Alec Carlson,
Adam Baryenbruch,
Jacob Burchfield, and
Ryan Jessen took the crown (1:37.48), while Jessen, Carlson,
Charles Hartt, and Burchfield captured the 200-yard free relay (1:26.40).
Hans Hover
UWL's individual event winners included
Hans Hover, who won the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.05) and 500-yard free (4:55.16).
Marley Kaiser
Marley Kaiser also won two individual titles Saturday. He took the 200-yard IM (2:05.52) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.92).
Jessen won the 100-yard freestyle (48.45), with Burchfield taking the 50-yard free (21.63). Hartt was the winner in the 100-yard butterfly (53.80), while Carlson captured the 100-yard backstroke (53.37).
The swimming & diving teams return to action January 27 at UW-Stevens Point at 1 p.m.
