La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team earned a 75-55 victory over UW-Platteville Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 10-5 overall and 3-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Pioneers drop to 5-10 overall and 1-3 in the conference.
UWL set a school record with 13 three-point field goals made in Saturday's win, finishing 13-of-27 (48.1%) overall. The Eagles were nine-of-15 (60.0%) from three-point range in the second half. The 13 three-pointers breaks the record of 12 set versus Luther College (Iowa) November 16, 2010 and UW-Platteville January 18, 2014.

UW-Platteville took a 6-3 lead on a three-point field goals by Blaire Lutes and Kassie Buchholtz, but UWL went on an 13-3 run to lead 16-9 at the end of the first quarter. The Pioneers cut the deficit to 23-20 with 5:42 left in the second quarter when the Eagles scored the game's next six points to lead 29-20 with 2:13 remaining on Sydney's Kannel layup. UWL led 31-24 at halftime.
The Eagles opened the second half on a 19-5 run to lead 50-29 with 4:43 remaining in the third quarter. UWL went five-of-eight from three-point range to start the second half and took a 51-36 lead at the end of the third quarter. UW-Platteville could get no closer than 13 points in the final quarter.
UWL shot 47.5% from the field, including 48.1% (13-of-27) from three-point range, and 75.0% (six-of-eight) at the free throw line.
Dani Craig led the Eagles with 17 points, finishing six-of-15 from the field, including five-of-11 from three-point range.
Elise DeNoyer recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Delaney Schoenenberger totaled 13 points, finishing three-of-eight from three-point range.
DeNoyer and
Annie Schumacher each had a pair of three-point field goals while
Zeporah Jackoyo finished with one.
UWL had a season-high 17 assists and tied a season-high with 17 steals. The 17 steals is tied for eighth in single-game school history.
UW-Platteville shot 34.0% from the field, including 44.% (eight-of-18) from three-point range, and 75.0% (15-of-20) at the line. Kassie Hansen led the Pioneers with 13 points while Lutes finished with 12 points and team-high six rebounds.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, January 17 at UW-River Falls at 7 p.m.
