Box Score 2 Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team, ranked 16th on this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll, split a pair of matches Friday at the Augsburg College (Minn.) Invitational. The Eagles earned a 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 26-24) victory over host Augsburg (Minn.) before falling to second-ranked Northwestern University (Minn.) 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-21). Northwestern (Minn.) is ranked second in the AVCA Poll.
Versus Augsburg (Minn.),
Stephanie Henk led UWL with 17 kills while hitting .325 with four errors in 40 attempts.
Laine Hoeffel had 11 kills and hit .276 with three errors in 29 attempts.
Madison Entinger recorded 32 assists as the Eagles hit .189 overall. UWL hit .275 (16-5-40) in the opening set and .262 (15-4-42) in the second set.
Halle Barnabo led three players in double figures in digs with 23 while
Rachel Barthel added 19 and
Paige Schmidt 13. UWL had 8.0 total blocks with
Kathryn Maas recording two block solos and four block assists. Augsburg (Minn.) suffered its first loss of the season with Friday's defeat.
In the their loss to Northwestern (Minn.), the Eagles hit .099 overall. Henk led UWL with 10 kills while Hoeffel finished with eight. Entinger had 27 assists.
Barnabo finished with 14 digs while Henk totaled nine. Barthel and Entinger each had eight. UWL recorded 7.0 blocks as
Jessica Jablonski finished with three block solos and one block assist. Northwestern (Minn.) improved to 5-1 with the win.
UWL returns to action Saturday, September 9 at the Augsburg (Minn.) Invitational, facing the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) at 11 a.m. and The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) at 1 p.m.
