La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team earned a 3-0 victory over Carthage College (Wis.) Thursday night at Veteran Memorial Field Sports Complex in its home opener. The Eagles, now 2-0-1 on the season, played the game on their new artificial turf field. Carthage (Wis.) drops to 2-2 on the season.

UWL scored twice in the opening half as
Alex Cording recorded her second goal of the season at 14:41 assisted by
Megan Carroll's free kick. The Eagles took a 2-0 lead at 22:03 with
Kaitlyn Villars notching her second goal of the year, assisted by
Hayley Stephens.
UWL totaled 12 shots in the first half while Carthage (Wis.) had nine.
Cording scored her second goal of the game and third of the season at 58:26 assisted by Villars for a 3-0 advantage.
Kennedy Brault (three saves),
Lily Brock (two) and
Abbi Burke combined on the shutout win for UWL. The Eagles totaled 28 shots, including 15 on goals. Cording finished with eight shots (five on goal) while
Rachel Rogahn had four (three on goal). Villars finished with three shots on goal while
Maddie Granos had two.
Emily Furmanek recorded 12 saves for Carthage (Wis.). The Lady Reds totaled 16 shots, including five on goal.
UWL returns to action Sunday, September 10 hosting Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) at 3 p.m.
