UWL Finishes in Double Overtime Tie with Gustavus Adolphus

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team finished in a 0-0 double overtime tie with Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) Sunday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles are now 2-0-2 on the season while the Gusties are 2-1-1.  It marks the third double overtime contest between the two teams in the last fifth season.  UWL earned a 2-1 win in 2015 while the teams tied 0-0 in 2014. 

UWL finished with 29 shots in the game Sunday, including 11 on goal.  Alex Cording totaled seven shots with two on goal while Maddie Granos finished with five shots with one on goal.  Kaitlyn Villars and Alex Graeber each recorded two shots on goal. 

Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) totaled 14 shots, including eight on goal.  Josie Mazzone finished with four shots, including two on goal, while Katie Ashpole and Madison Magee both totaled two shots on goal. 

UWL outshot Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) in all four periods of play, including 12-5 in the first half and 10-8 in the second. The Eagles held a 4-0 advantage in the first overtime and 3-1 in the second overtime. 

Kennedy Brault recorded eight saves for UWL while Ashley Becker totaled 11 for Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.). 

The Eagles had eight corner kicks to the Gusties' five.  The game featured 25 fouls with Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) totaling 13 and UWL 12. 

UWL returns to action Wednesday, September 13 at Luther College (Iowa) at 7 p.m.
