Oshkosh, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team opened the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) schedule with a 3-0 victory (25-23, 25-22, 25-17) at UW-Oshkosh Wednesday night in Kolf Sports Center.
The Eagles move 7-4 overall and 1-0 in the WIAC while the Titans fall to 8-5 overall and 0-1 in the conference. Both teams are receiving votes in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll.
Stephanie Henk led UWL with 12 kills Wednesday while hitting .188 (12 kills, six errors, 32 attempts).
Laine Hoeffel finished with nine kills, hitting .350 (9-2-20).
Madison Entinger recorded 32 assists as the Eagles hit .136 (34-20-103) overall.
Halle Barnabo had a team-leading 13 digs while Henk finished with nine and
Paige Schmidt seven.
Alyssa Wolslegel, Tina Elstner, and Samantha Jaeke each had eight kills for UW-Oshkosh, who hit .122 (31-19-98) as a team. Rebecca Doughty finished with 13 assists and Jaeke nine for the Titans, while Elstner led the team with 11 digs.
UWL returns to action Saturday, September 22 against Elmhurst College (Ill.) in Naperville, Ill. at 7 p.m.
