Box Score Decorah, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team improved to 3-0-2 on the season with a 3-0 win at Luther College (Iowa) Wednesday night. The Norse drop to 3-2 on the season. It is UWL's third shutout win of the season after a 4-0 victory at the University of Dubuque (Iowa) September 1 and 3-0 home win over Carthage College (Wis.) September 7.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead at 15:47 with
Maddie Granos scoring with an assist to
Margaret Harings. UWL led 1-0 at halftime.
Natalie Herzog gave UWL a 2-0 advantage at 47:12 assisted by
Hayley Stephens and Granos.
Cassie Handrick finished the scoring at 54:37 to make it 3-0 with an assist from Herzog.
UWL finished with 16 shots in the game, including 11 on goal. Herzog had four shots with three on goal while
Mary Mansker recorded two shots with both coming on goal. The Eagles had six corner kicks.
Kennedy Brault and
Lily Brock combined on the shutout victory. Brault played 68:08 in goal recording four saves while Brock played 21:52 with one save.
Luther (Iowa) totaled nine shots with five on goal. Meredith Arpey and Marta Springer each had two shots, both coming on goal. The Norse finished with five corner kicks. Lauren Thormodsgard recorded eight saves.
UWL returns to action Saturday, September 16 hosting Augustana College (Ill.) at noon.
