Winter Haven, Fla. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse baseball team wrapped up its spring break with a 10-5 victory over Benedictine University (Ill.) Saturday afternoon at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational.  The Eagles, ranked eighth on D3baseball.com, improve to 6-3 on the season.  Benedictine (Ill.) drops to 3-3 on the year.

UWL went 5-2 on its spring break, including winning its last three games.

UWL took a 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth inning and added five in the top of the fifth to make it 8-0.  Alex Barnard's two-run single scored Nate Roethle and Alex Robson to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead. Barnard later scored on a Benedictine (Ill.) error.

The Eagles scored five runs in the fifth inning on five hits, highlighted by Robson's two-run single, Brady Stolzman's two-run double and Alex Browns' RBI triple.

Benedictine (Ill.) scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the lead to 8-4. The Eagles cut the margin to 8-5 in the bottom of the seventh, but UWL added two runs in the top of the ninth for the 10-5 victory.  Roethle scored on a Benedictine (Ill.) error and Robson came in on Brown's single.

UWL finished with 12 hits as seven starters recorded at least one. Roethle and Robson each had three hits and scored three times with Robson adding two RBI. Brown and Stoltzman each had three RBI.

Connor Cook (1-0) picked up the win for UWL, pitching 2.2 innings in relief. He allowed three hits and one run while striking out two. Jameson Lavery started, going 4.1 innings, allowing five hits, four runs and three walks with three strikeouts. James Witt went 1.0 inning with two strikeouts with Caleb Williems also pitching 1.0 inning.

UWL returns to action Saturday, March 25 at Cornell College (Iowa) at 1 p.m.
