UW-La Crosse 190.200, UW-Stout 187.500
La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team earned a 190.200 to 187.500 dual victory over UW-Stout Friday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles scored 47.475 on the vault; 47.675 on the uneven parallel bars; 46.800 on the balance beam and 48.250 on the floor exercise.
UWL's
Samantha Wiekamp captured the all-around (37.750) while tying for the individual title with teammate
Dani Barmore on the uneven parallel bars (9.575). Wiekamp was also second on the balance beam (9.525).
The Eagles'
Elsa Spitzmueller won the floor exercise (9.775).
Barmore,
Savannah Farrell and
Leah Spankowski tied for third on the vault (9.525) while Spankowski was also third on the balance beam (9.475).
Kari Willett finished third on the floor exercise (9.675), fifth on the balance beam (9.375) and sixth on the vault (9.500) while
Monique Muehlethaler was third on the uneven parallel bars (9.550) and fourth on the floor exercise (9.650).
Amy Enright tied for fourth on the uneven parallel bars (9.500) while
Savana Kettner was sixth on the floor exercise (9.600).
"With a lot of the team out with sickness this week, we showed that we can rise to the occasion when facing adversity," said UWL head coach
Kasey Crawford. "This team is filled with potential to keep climbing."
UWL returns to action Sunday, February 19 at National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Illinois State University at 11 a.m.
