UWL Splits Pair of Matches; Henk Named All-Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Waverly, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Wartburg College (Iowa) Invitational Saturday. The Eagles earned a 3-0 (25-8, 25-22, 25-18) victory over Hamline University (Minn.) before falling 3-2 (23-25, 20-25, 25-20, 25-13, 9-15) to Luther College (Iowa). UWL, receiving votes on this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll, is now 14-6 on the season. 

UWL also split a pair of matches Friday, losing 3-1 (26-24, 20-25, 16-25, 20-25) to Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) before a 3-2 (23-25, 16-25, 25-21, 25-17, 15-9) win over host Wartburg (Iowa). Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) is ranked 11th on the AVCA Top-25 Poll while Wartburg (Iowa) is receiving votes. 

In Saturday's win over Hamline (Minn.), Marisa Johnson led UWL with 12 kills while Laine Hoeffel finished with 11.  Johnson hit .303 (12-2-33) and Hoeffel .280 (11-4-25). Madison Entinger recorded 31 assists as the Eagles hit .191 (47-20-141).  UWL hit .444 (18-2-36) in the first set. 

Stevie Winer led UWL with 31 digs.  The Eagles had 7.0 team blocks with Jessica Jablonski recording four block assists. 

Stephanie Henk led the team with 22 kills versus Luther (Iowa) Saturday, hitting .360 (22-4-50) for the match. Jablonski finished with 13 kills and hit .333 (13-4-27) while Kathryn Maas had 11 kills. Entinger finished with 56 assists with UWL hitting .189 (65-31-180). 

Halle Barnabo led the UWL with 14 digs while Henk finished with 13 and Winer 10.  The Eagles finished with 11.0 blocks as Jablonski recorded two block solos and four block assists. 

Henk was one of six players named to the all-tournament team. She finished with 58 kills (3.41 per set) in the four matches while recording 38 digs (2.24).

UWL returns to action Wednesday, October 11 hosting UW-Eau Claire at 7 p.m.
