Waverly, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Wartburg College (Iowa) Invitational Friday night. The Eagles fell 3-1 (24-26, 25-20, 25-15, 25-20) to 11th-ranked Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) before coming back earning a 3-2 (23-25, 16-25, 25-21, 25-17, 15-9) victory over Wartburg (Iowa). UWL, receiving votes on this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll, is now 13-5 on the season. Gustavus Adolphus (Minn.) is ranked 11th in the AVCA Poll while Wartburg (Iowa) is also receiving votes.

Marisa Johnson led UWL with 14 kills while
Stephanie Henk finished with 13 and
Kathryn Maas totaled 11. Maas hit .381 for the match with 11 kills and three errors in 21 attempts.
Madison Entinger led the team with 44 assists as the Eagles hit .187 (56-25-166).
Halle Barnabo recorded a team-high 23 digs while Entinger finished with 15 and Henk 11. UWL totaled 6.0 team blocks with Maas finishing with two block solos and three block assists.
UWL came back to earn the 3-2 victory over Wartburg (Iowa) after dropping the first two sets. The third set was tied 21-21 when UWL scored the final four points. The Eagles never trailed in the fourth set, leading 13-6 after a Johnson ace. Wartburg (Iowa) could get no closer than five points the rest of the set.
In the fifth and deciding set, UWL never trailed as it secured its first five-set victory of the season. The Eagles led 5-4 when they scored six of the next eight points to lead 11-6.
Henk led five players in double figures in kills with 15.
Laine Hoeffel totaled 13 with
Jessica Jablonski finishing with 12, Maas 11 and Johnson 10. Maas hit .417 (11-1-24) for the match while Jablonski hit .321 (12-3-28) and Hoeffel .310 (13-4-29).
Entinger led UWL with 54 assists as the team hit .220 (63-25-173).
Paige Schmidt had a team-high 18 digs while Barnabo finished with 17 and Entinger 14.
The Eagles had 9.0 team blocks as Maas finished with two block solos and three block assists for the second straight match. Hoeffel had three block assists.
UWL returns to action Saturday, October 7 at the Wartburg (Iowa) Invitational, facing Hamline University (Minn.) at 10 a.m. and Luther College (Iowa) at noon.
