Northfield, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team, ranked 19th on the United Soccer Coaches National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Poll, earned a 4-1 win at Carleton College (Minn.) Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 13-1-2 with their eighth straight victory. Carleton (Minn.) drops to 5-6-3 on the season.
"It was a tough match for us," said UWL head coach
Jason Murphy. "Carleton had a great plan and made it really difficult. It was great to get a road result against a quality MIAC (Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) opponent."
UWL's 13 victories are tied for second-most in single-season school history. The Eagles won a school record 14 games last season. UWL's current eight-game winning streak is tied for the longest in school history. The team also won eight consecutive games from September 20 through October 17, 2015.
UWL took a 1-0 lead at 10:29 in the first half on
Alex Cording's eighth goal of the season.

"Once we got Alex's goal, we were able to get control of the match and create a few dangerous chances," added Murphy.
The Eagles scored again on a penalty kick from
Maddie Granos at 26:39 to make it 2-0. The goal was the eighth for Granos on the year.
Margaret Harings recorded her seventh goal of the year at the 58:29 mark of the second half to give UWL a 3-0 advantage.
Hayley Hargroder put the Eagles up 4-0 on her second goal of the year at 75:45.
Olivia Karegeannes assisted on the play.
Carleton (Minn.) got on the board at 82:14 on a goal from Emma Wasend, making the final 4-1.
UWL finished with 28 shots in the game, including 13 on goal. Cording led the Eagles with six shots, while
Kaitlyn Villars and
Natalie Herzog added four each. Granos had a team-leading three shots on goal while Harings, Cording, Villars and Hargroder each finished with two.
Carleton (Minn.) totaled 17 shots with seven on goal.
Lily Brock recorded four saves in 67:37 in the win for UWL, and is now 8-1 on the season.
Kennedy Brault finishing the game in goal, with two saves in 22:23. Anna Roethler had eight saves for the Knights.
"We probably didn't play our best today, but that was a credit to them," said Murphy. "We learned a lot about us so we are excited to get back to training and prepare for the weekend."
UWL returns to action Saturday, October 21 at UW-Whitewater at 1 p.m.
