Box Score 2 Elmhurst, Ill. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team opened its 2016 season with a pair of victories at the Elmhurst College (Ill.) Invitational Friday. The Eagles opened the year with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-17) win over Greenville College (Ill.) followed by a 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19) victory over Augustana College (Ill.).
In the win over Greenville (Ill.),
Marisa Johnson led UWL with 10 kills while hitting .529 (10 kills, one error, 17 attempts). She also recorded 11 digs for a double-double.
Stephanie Henk finished with eight kills while
Ashley Entinger recorded seven.
The Eagles hit .289 for the match, recording 34 kills and eight errors in 90 attempts. UWL hit .424 (15-1-33) in the opening set.
Madison Entinger led UWL with 29 assists while tying for the team lead with three block assists.
Jill Entinger also recorded three block assists. UWL finished with 6.0 team blocks.
Henk led three players in double figures in kills in the Eagles' win over Augustana (Ill.), finishing with 17.
Ashley Entinger added 14 kills and
Jill Entinger with 12.
Ashley Entinger hit .310 (14-5-29) for the match while
Jill Entinger hit .37 (12-2-28). UWL hit .211 for the match, including a match-high .275 (16-5-40) in the fourth set.
Madison Entinger recorded 51 assists and 12 digs.
Halle Barnabo had a team-high 15 digs with Henk and
Madison Entinger each finishing with 12. Johnson had 10 digs.
Jill Entinger finished with a team-high four blocks assists as the Eagles recorded 9.0 team blocks overall.
UWL returns to action Saturday, September 3 at the Elmhurst (Ill.) Invitational, facing the host Bluejays at 9 a.m. and Aurora University (Ill.) at 11 a.m.
