Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team fell 3-1 (25-19, 25-18, 22-25, 26-24) to city-rival Viterbo University (Wis.) Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall in the Eagles' home opener. UWL, ranked 18th on this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Top-25 Poll falls to 9-1 on the season. Viterbo (Wis.), ranked fifth on the Tachikara-National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Coaches' Poll, improves to 12-2 on the year.
Viterbo (Wis.) earned its ninth straight win over UWL with Wednesday's victory. The Eagles now lead the all-time series, 27-12.
Stephanie Henk and Marissa Johnson led UWL with 14 kills Wednesday while
Jill Entinger finished with 11.
Madison Entinger recorded 41 assists as the Eagles hit .216 for the match.
Halle Barnabo had a team-high 17 digs for UWL with
Paige Schmidt adding 10.
Jessica Jablonski recorded 2.0 blocks as the Eagles finished with 6.0 overall.
Natalie Geidel led Viterbo (Wis.) with 20 kills while Emilee Wiersma recorded 10. Sara Biermaier and Siera Skow each had nine. Amelia Grahn recorded 40 assists as the V-Hawks hit .331.
Baylee Grosse finished with a match-high 18 digs while Geidel had 3.0 blocks. Viterbo (Wis.) recorded 5.0 team blocks.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, September 21 at UW-Eau Claire at 7 p.m. to open up Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play.
