Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team, ranked 13th on this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll, earned a 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-8) victory over UW-River Falls Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 18-3 overall and 4-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Falcons drop to 15-13 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
With the win, UWL takes over sole possession of first-place in the WIAC after UW-Platteville earned a 3-2 win over UW-Whitewater and UW-Stout's 3-2 victory over UW-Eau Claire.
The Eagles never trailed in the opening set, racing out to a 12-3 lead. The Falcons could get no closer than eight points the rest of the set as UWL hit .367 (13-2-30). UW-River Falls led by a pair of points in the second set before UWL used a 11-2 run to lead 23-16. The Eagles raced out to an 8-3 lead in the third set and later led 21-5.
Stephanie Henk led UWL with 10 kills Wednesday night with
Jill Entinger finishing with nine and
Marisa Johnson seven.
Ashley Entinger totaled six kills.
Madison Entinger recorded 37 assists as the Eagles hit a season-high .407 (41-6-86) in the match.
Halle Barnabo had 11 digs while
Paige Schmidt added six. UWL had 7.0 team blocks with
Jessica Jablonski recording three block assists.
Amara Meyer led UW-River Falls with six kills while Hannah Striggow recorded five. Raven Klein finished with 16 assists as the team hit .027 (20-18-74). Hannah Robb had a match-high 14 digs. The Falcons had 3.0 team blocks.
UWL returns to action Saturday, October 22 hosting UW-Stout at 10:30 a.m. and Carroll University (Wis.) at 3:30 p.m.
