Box Score 2 Minneapolis, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team swept a pair of matches at the Augsburg College (Minn.) Invitational Saturday afternoon in Si Melby Hall. The Eagles, now 7-2 on the season, earned a 3-0 (28-26, 25-18, 25-22) victory over the University of Northwestern (Minn.) and a 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-20) win over the University of Minnesota-Morris.
UWL went 3-1 in the two-day invitational after splitting a pair of matches against nationally-ranked opponents Friday. The Eagles earned a 3-2 (16-25, 22-25, 25-20, 25-13, 20-18) victory over 20th-ranked the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) before falling 3-2 (18-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-22, 15-13) to 25th-ranked Augsburg (Minn.).
Versus Northwestern (Minn.) Saturday,
Stephanie Henk led UWL with 14 kills while hitting .300 (14-5-30).
Jill Entinger finished with 13 kills and
Jessica Jablonski with 11. Entinger hit .385 (13-3-26) while Jablonski hit .556 (11-1-18). The Eagles hit .182 (50-26-132) as a team.
Jaclyn Barrette recorded 43 assists for UWL while tying for the team lead in digs with 12.
Paige Schmidt also recorded 12 digs while Henk recorded eight.
In the victory over Minnesota-Morris, Henk recorded a team-high 14 kills while hitting .267 (14-6-30). Entinger finished with nine kills and hit .643 (9-0-14).
Barrette had 32 assists and 10 digs while
Danica Johnson registered a team-leading 12 digs.
Henk and Entinger were both named to the eight-member Augsburg (Minn.) Invitational All-Tournament Team. Henk hit .301 in the four matches, finishing with 57 kills (3.56 per set) and 17 errors in 133 attempts. She also recorded 43 digs (2.69 per set). Entinger hit .390 with 50 kills (3.12 per set) and nine errors in 105 attempts. She also averaged 0.81 blocks per set.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, September 16 at city-rival Viterbo University (Wis.) starting at 7 p.m. The V-Hawks are currently ranked second in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Top-25 Poll.
