Box Score River Falls, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team earned a 3-1 (23-25, 25-19, 27-25, 25-23) victory at UW-River Falls Wednesday night in Karges Center. The Eagles improve to 17-8 overall and 4-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Falcons drop to 11-18 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
With the win, UWL moves into a tie for first-place in the WIAC with UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater. The Eagles' 17 overall victories are the most since finishing with 28 in 2008.
Leah Putzier led UWL with 16 kills Wednesday, hitting .282 (16-5-39).
Stephanie Henk recorded 13 kills and
Jill Entinger finished with 11. Henk hit .444 (13-1-27) and Entinger .345 (11-1-29). The Eagles hit .316 overall (58-9-155), including .500 (14-0-28) in the second set.
Jaclyn Barrette led UWL with 45 assists.
Hallie Locher led five players in double figures in digs with 17 while Barrette finished with 15. Henk recorded 14 digs, Putzier 12 and
Paige Schmidt 10.
The Eagles had 9.0 team blocks with
Jessica Jablonski registering one block solo and five block assists.
Jill Entinger and
Ashley Entinger each had three block assists.
Rebecca Gasper led UW-River Falls with 17 kills while Amara Meyer finished with 11 and Molly Monahan 10. The Falcons hit .198 (57-25-162) with Raven Klein finishing with 46 assists.
Lexi Pingel had 16 digs and Kadie Brooks 13.
The Falcons finished with 5.0 team blocks.
UWL returns to action Wednesday, October 28 hosting ninth-ranked UW-Whitewater at 7 p.m. in the Eagles' regular-season home finale.
