St. Cloud State University 177, UW-La Crosse 113
St. Cloud, Minn. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team fell 177-113 to NCAA Division II St. Cloud State University (Minn.) Friday afternoon in the Halenbeck Hall Aquatic Center. The Eagles are now 2-1 on the season.
UW-L's Hunter Burchfield, Daniel Streater, and Charlie Skinner each won individual titles Friday. Burchfield captured the 50 butterfly with a time of 24.34 while Streater was first in the 100 butterfly (53.34). Skinner swam the 200 individual medley in 2:04.51 to bring home the title.
The 200 freestyle relay team of Erich Schnell, Kade McGilvray, Nicholas Brehmer, and Ryan Jessen won the event with a time of 1:28.38. UW-L also finished second with Ben Weinhaus, Matt Bonjour, Jackson Uselman and Burchfield coming in with a time of 1:33.15.
In the 400 medley relay, UW-L's Stephen Hanko, Quinton Maydaniuk, Streater, and Jessen finished with a time of 3:40.58 to place second.
Other top finishers for the Eagles included second-place finishes by Schnell in the 100 freestyle (49.23), Brehmer in the 500 free (5:04.26), Spencer Ritt in the 50 butterfly (24.36), and Streater in the 200 individual medley (2:05.81).
Jessen was second in the 50 freestyle (21.94) and third in the 100 free (49.34). Hanko placed second in the 100 backstroke (54.91) and third in the 200 individual medley (2:06.36).
Maydaniuk swam to third-place finishes in the 50 (28.72) and 100 breaststroke (1:02.70) for the Eagles. Skinner swam third in the 50 butterfly while McGilvray took third in the 100 butterfly (54:37). Another third was captured by Frosch in the 1000 freestyle (10:26.67).
In the diving competition, UW-L's Tanner Folvag finished third in the one-meter event with 249.90 points. He was fourth from the three meter platform (257.35 points).
UW-L returns to action on Saturday, January 31 hosting UW-Oshkosh and UW-Stevens Point at 1 p.m.
