Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team earned a 3-2 (12-25, 25-23, 22-25, 25-18, 15-13) victory over Saint Mary's University (Minn.) Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall in the Eagles' home opener. UW-L improves to 6-3 on the season while Saint Mary's drops to 5-4.
Jill Entinger and
Ida Steingas led UW-L with 12 kills each Wednesday night while
Stephanie Henk finished with 10. Entinger hit .407 in the match with 12 kills and one error in 27 attempts.
Ashley Entinger recorded nine kills, hitting .389 (9-2-18).
Jaclyn Barrette finished with 30 assists and
Maddie Entinger recorded 19 as UW-L hit .168 overall. After hitting negative .034 (7-8-29) in the opening set, the Eagles hit .350 (17-3-40) in set two. UW-L had eight kills and three errors in 25 attempts (.200) in the fifth and deciding set.
Courtney Geisler led the Eagles with 25 digs while
Leah Putzier finished with 17.
Jill Entinger added nine digs and
Maddie Entinger eight. Steingas recorded 4.0 total blocks.
Alex Peterson led Saint Mary's with 21 kills while Cassidy Bittle finished with nine and Molly Grover eight. Tayler MacVey had 20 assists and Brittany Hanson 18 as the Cardinals hit .198.
MacVey and Lex Krogstad led the team with 19 digs while Morgan Thomas had 18 and Hanson 10. Molly Urban finished with 5.0 blocks.
UW-L returns to action Friday, September 12 at the Carthage College (Wis.) Invitational.
