Men's Swimming & Diving Team Earns Victory at Luther

Decorah, Iowa - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's swimming and diving team set five Luther College pool records, won 10 of 11 individual events and both relays to earn a 172-65 dual victory over Luther College (Iowa) Saturday afternoon in Decorah.  The Eagles improve to 2-0 in duals.

The Eagles' Ryan Jessen, Bryan Frosch, Steven Hanko and Justin Bublitz each won a pair of events Saturday.  Jessen took the 100 freestyle (48.41) and set the Luther (Iowa) pool record in the 200 freestyle (1:48.46).

Hanko set a pool record in winning the 400 individual medley (4:24.78) while also capturing the 100 backstroke (54.76). 

Frosch captured the 500 (5:03.83) and 1,000 (10:36.69) freestyle.

Bublitz swept the one (310.95 points) and three (304.90) meter diving competitions Saturday. 

Erich Schnell, Daniel Streater and Quinton Maydaniuk each won an event for UW-L.  Schnell captured the 50 freestyle (22.37) while Streater won the 100 butterfly (53.83) and Maydaniuk the 100 breaststroke (1:04.43). 

UW-L swept the relay events Saturday as Kade McGilvray, Maydaniuk, Streater, and Jessen took the 400 medley relay (3:39.51) while Caleb Cole, Nicholas Brehmer, McGilvray and Schnell captured the 400 freestyle relay (3:15.75).  Both times set pool records.    

Other top individual finishes for the Eagles included second place finishes for Ben Weinhaus in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.79), Hunter Burchfield in the 100 butterfly (55.23) and McGilvray in the 100 backstroke (56.31).

Brehmer was second in the 500 freestyle (5:04.94) and third in the 50 freestyle (22.80) with Cole placing second in the 100 freestyle (49.37) and third in the 200 freestyle (1:50.38).

Charleton Skinner swam to a third-place finish in the 400 individual medley (4:38.03) and Schnell finished third in the 100 freestyle (49.51). 

Tanner Folvag was second in one-meter (238.10 points) and third in three-meter (223.15 points) diving. 

UW­-L returns to action Friday, December 5 at the Rochester (Minn.) Invitational.
