Volleyball Team Falls to Luther in Five Sets

Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team fell 3-2 (29-27, 27-29, 25-21, 23-25, 15-10) to Luther College (Iowa) Friday night at the UW-La Crosse Invitational held at Mitchell Hall. The Eagles drop to 8-10 on the season while the Norse improve to 12-9. Luther earned its second win over UW-L this season after a 3-1 victory September 19 in Decorah.

Leah Putzier led UW-L with 18 kills Friday night while Jill Entinger finished with 11 and Jessica Jablonski nine. Jaclyn Barrette recorded 44 assists as the Eagles hit .064.

Courtney Geisler had a team-high 20 digs with Melanie Martin recording 14. Barrett added 13 digs while Putzier finished with 10.

Jablonski recorded two solo blocks and four block assists.

Kelsey Sorenson led three Luther players in double-digit kills with 14. Leah Broderick finished with 13 and Natalee Johnson 12. Lindsey Ryan had 44 assists as the Norse hit .160.

Taylor Galde recorded 26 digs while Brandi Knupp had 15 and Ryan finished with 12.

Lexie Erickson had one solo block and five block assists.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, October 4 hosting UW-Oshkosh at 2:30 p.m. in a non-conference match as part of the UW-La Crosse Invitational.
