Box Score Wisconsin Dells, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's basketball team earned a 89-49 victory over The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) Sunday afternoon at JustAgame Fieldhouse. The Eagles improve to 8-3 on the season while the Saints fall to 2-8. It was the first meeting between the teams since the 2003-04 season.
UW-L never trailed in Sunday's contest, scoring the first nine points of the game. The Eagles led 12-2 after making five of their first six shots from the field. UW-L later led 16-2 with 14:44 remaining in the first half after a pair of
Calahan Skogman free throws.
St. Scholastica cut the lead to 16-4 on LaMonte Hall's free throws, but UW-L went on a 14-5 run to lead 30-9 with 10:33 left. The Saints used a 8-4 run to make it 34-17, but the Eagles scored nine of the next 11 points to lead 43-19 with 2:20 remaining. UW-L led 50-26 at halftime.
The Saints could get no closer than 19 points in the second half.
UW-L shot 56.6% from the field, including 47.6% (10-of-21) from three-point range, and 82.6% (19-of-23) at the free throw line.
Luke Tweed led three players in double figures for the Eagles with 16 points, finishing six-of-10 from the field, including four-of-five from three-point range.
Lucas Collom finished with 14 points while Skogman had 12. Collom was seven-of-nine from the field while Skogman finished three-of-three from the field, including two-of-two from three-point range, and four-of-four at the line.
Aaron Ziman,
Braden Tice and
Cale Zuiker each had eight points.
St. Scholastica shot 32.6% from the field, including 29.4% (five-of-17) from three-point range, and 66.7% (14-of-21) at the line.
Jake Naslund led the Saints with eight points while Hall, Trevor Morlock and Garret Pearson each scored seven points.
UW-L returns to action Tuesday, December 31 at Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) at 3 p.m.
