Volleyball Team Falls at UW-Stevens Point in WIAC Semifinals

Box Score Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team fell 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-19) at 19th-ranked UW-Stevens Point Friday night in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament Semifinals in Berg Gymnasium.  The Eagles fall to 15-14 on the season while the Pointers improve to 30-4.

UW-L, the tournament's fourth-seed, will face second-seeded UW-Eau Claire in the WIAC Tournament Third-Place match Saturday, November 9 at noon in Stevens Point.  UW-Eau Claire lost 3-1 (25-23, 17-25, 29-27, 25-14) to third-seeded UW-Whitewater in the other tournament semifinal Friday.  UW-Whitewater and UW-Stevens Point will play in the championship match Saturday, November 9 at 2:30 p.m.

The Eagles were making their first appearance in the tournament semifinals since 2008.

In Friday's match, Jill Entinger led UW-L with 11 kills while Kayla Ashland totaled nine kills and Lauren Probst six.  Cassie Raduka finished with 32 assists as the Eagles hit .085.

Crystal Ziegler had a team-high 13 digs while Probst finished with 12 and Courtney Geisler 10.  Ashland had 3.0 total blocks.

Allison Davis led UW-Stevens Point with 11 kills while Emma Brunkhorst and Krista Loos each had 10.  Alexis Hartman finished with 31 assists as the Pointers hit .206.

Sarah Wildish and Hannah Picel each had 14 digs while Davis recorded 5.0 total blocks.

UW-Stevens Point, ranked 19th on this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 Poll, earned its third home win over UW-L this season Friday.  The Pointers earned a 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-22) win October 5 and 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-16) victory November 2. 

UW-L returns to action Saturday, November 9 against UW-Eau Claire in the WIAC Tournament Third-Place match at noon.
