Volleyball Team Earns Five Set Win over UW-Oshkosh

Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team earned a 3-2 (25-22, 22-25, 25-20, 16-25, 15-11) victory over UW-Oshkosh Wednesday night in Mitchell Hall.  The Eagles improve to 12-11 overall and 4-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Titans fall to 19-9 overall and 4-3 in the conference.

UW-L snaps an eight-match losing streak to UW-Oshkosh with the victory. 

Set one was tied 12-12 when UW-L scored the next three points. The Eagles would never trail again in the set. UW-Oshkosh cut the lead to 23-22, but UW-L scored the final two points to earn the win.

UW-Oshkosh raced out to a 6-2 lead in the second set before UW-L cut it to 7-6. The Titans led 14-11, but the Eagles used a 4-1 run to force a 15-15 tie. The set was tied 18-18, but UW-Oshkosh scored three of the next four points to lead 21-19. 

The third set was tied eight times. UW-Oshkosh led 17-15 when UW-L went on an 8-0 run to 23-17. 

UW-Oshkosh never trailed in the fourth set, racing out to a 5-1 lead. UW-L cut the deficit to 12-9, but UW-Oshkosh scored the next four points.

The fifth and deciding set was tied 3-3 when UW-L went on a 6-1 run to lead 9-4. The Eagles led 11-6 when the Titans scored four straight points to make it 11-10.  UW-Oshkosh trailed 12-11, but UW-L scored the final three points to earn the victory. 

Lauren Probst led UW-L with 19 kills while Jill Entinger finished with 10. Cassie Raduka recorded 43 assists as the Eagles hit .227 overall. 

Courtney Geisler had 12 digs while Probst finished with 11 and Crystal Ziegler 10. Entinger had 4.0 total blocks while Kayla Ashland finished with 3.0.

Katelyn Malcheski led UW-Oshkosh with 14 kills while Jessica Fischer and Jordyn Bratel each had 11. Alison Tomczyak recorded 25 assists and Alexis Thiel 22 as the Titans hit .170. 

Mandy Trautman had a team-high 12 digs while Danielle Stoppenbach recorded 10. 

UW-L returns to action Friday, October 25 hosting UW-Stout at 7 p.m.
