Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball squad finished 1-3 in the two-day UW-Platteville Invitational Saturday in Williams Fieldhouse. The Eagles went 1-1 Saturday, falling 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-21) to Saint Mary's University (Minn.) and winning 3-1 (25-20, 25-16, 23-25, 25-15) over the University of Dubuque (Iowa). UW-L is now 12-11 on the season.
In action Friday, the Eagles dropped a pair of matches. UW-L lost 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-19) to Coe College (Iowa) and 3-1 (30-32, 25-19, 25-22, 25-22) to St. Catherine's University (Minn.).
UW-L's
Kayla Ashland was named to the all-tournament team. She recorded 27 kills (1.93 per set) and five errors in 58 attempts (.379) in four matches. She also had five aces and 12.0 total blocks.
Versus Saint Mary's (Minn.) Saturday,
Crystal Ziegler led the Eagles with 10 kills while
Lauren Probst had six. Ashland and
Haley Molzner each finished with five.
Cassie Raduka recorded 14 assists and
Chantel York 13 as UW-L hit .308.
Ziegler and
Katie Kaufman tied for the team lead with 12 digs. Ashland had four blocks.
In the victory over Dubuque (Iowa), Molzner recorded 12 kills with
Brianna Jacobson finishing with 11. Molzner had three errors in 20 attempts (.450) while Jacobson finished with three errors in 25 attempts (.320). Raduka had 22 assists and York 21 as the Eagles hit .263.
Kaufman had 11 digs with Ziegler and
Melanie Martin each finishing with 10. Jacobson had five blocks.
In Friday's dual with Coe (Iowa), Probst had 10 kills and York 10 assists as UW-L hit .192 as a team. Kaufman led the team with nine digs with York finishing with eight.
Versus St. Catherine's (Minn.), Ziegler had 13 kills while Probst and Molzner each had 10. Raduka recorded 14 assists and York 10. UW-L hit .201.
Kaufman had 17 digs and
Leah Putzier 14. Ashland totaled six blocks.
UW-L returns to action Friday, October 12 hosting the UW-L Invitational in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles face Loras College (Iowa) at 3:30 p.m. and the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) at 7:30 p.m.
