UW-L Wins Invite; Booman Takes All-Around

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics squad captured the 30th Annual Gershon/McLellan Invitational Friday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles scored 186.125 to win their 11th Gershon/McLellan title. Winona State University (Minn.) was second at 181.050 while UW-Stout placed third at 179.325. UW-Oshkosh finished fourth at 179.050 and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) was fifth with a score of 178.075.

UW-L's Christa Booman won the all-around title Friday night (38.125). She became the first gymnast for the Eagles to take the all-around since Erin Sommer in 2008 (37.225). Booman also won the uneven parallel bars (9.700) and tied for first on the balance beam (9.650) Friday. Her score of 9.700 on the uneven bars tied the Gershon/McLellan Invitational record set by Nina Schubert of UW-L in 2006. Booman tied for second on the vault (9.475) Friday.

The Eagles' Morgan Shene was second in the all-around (37.175). She tied for second on the floor exercise (9.550), was third on the balance beam (9.400) and tied for eighth on the vault (9.300).

UW-L's Jenna Swails was fifth on the vault (9.450) Friday and tied for sixth on the floor exercise (9.375). Jen Andersen tied for fifth on the balance beam (9.150) and tied for eighth on the uneven parallel bars (9.075).

Other top individual finishers for the Eagles included Tegan Oare tied for second on the vault (9.475) while Kristen Buschke tied for fourth on the uneven parallel bars (9.250) and Katie Henning was fourth on the balance beam (9.300). UW-L's Taylor Cochran tied for fifth on the balance beam (9.150). Kendra Klein tied for eighth on the floor exercise (9.350) while Emily Dinse and Katrina Schuch tied for eighth on the vault (9.300).

UW-Stout's Naomi DeLara tied for first on the balance beam (9.650) with Booman. DeLara also took the floor exercise (9.675).

UW-L returns to action Friday, February 11 hosting UW-Whitewater 6:30 p.m.
