2011 NCAA III Championship Results
Winneconne, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's cross country team placed 14th at the 2011 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championships Saturday afternoon at Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne. The Eagles finished with 380 team points while North Central College (Ill.) won the men's championship with 110 points. Haverford College (Pa.) was second with 172 points while Washington University (Mo.) was third with 206.
SUNY-Geneseo finished fourth (235) and UW-Oshkosh placed fifth (277). Rounding out the top-10 were Williams College, Mass. (278), Bates College, Maine (294), St. Lawrence University, N.Y. (304), Tufts University, Mass. (329) and Dickinson College, Pa. (341). A total of 32 teams competed.
UW-L was led by freshman
Nate Routhier of
Mequon (Homestead) Saturday as he placed 59th overall with a time of 25:00.35 on the 8,000-meter course. Sophomore
Sam Simones of
La Crosse (Aquinas) was 78th overall (25:09.01) while junior
Josh Kaul of
Stillwater, Minn. (H.S.) finished 91st (25:12.72).

Jacob Peterson of
Nekoosa (H.S.) was 141st (25:33.32) for the Eagles while freshman
Andrew Heinritz of
Appleton (Xavier) was 142nd (25:34.17). Junior
Mark Punzenberger of
Wausau (East) placed 159th (25:39.01) and sophomore
Josh Dedering of
Neenah (H.S.) was 182nd (25:48.13).
Ben Sathre of the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) won the men's individual title with a time of 23:44.27. A total of 279 runners competed.
Kaul was the only runner with previous national experience for UW-L, placing 260th in 2008.
UW-L earned an at-large bid to the NCAA III Championships after finishing fourth at the NCAA III Midwest Regional November 12.
