UWL went 14-12 overall and 8-6 in the WIAC in 2023-24. The Eagles tied for second in the league standings and qualified for the WIAC Tournament.

Nycz arrived at UWL after serving as an assistant coach at Bryant & Stratton College (Wis.) for three seasons under UWL head coach JT Gritzmacher

While at Bryant & Stratton (Wis.), Nycz helped the Bobcats compile a 57-30 overall record, including a single-season school record 26 wins in 2022-23.  Bryant & Stratton (Wis.) finished 17th in the final 2022-23 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Top-20 Poll.  The Bobcats advanced to the NJCAA Region IV Championship.

Nycz was involved in all facets of the program at Bryant & Stratton (Wis.), including assisting with building practice plans, on court game coaching, and organizing all team travel.  Off the court, he oversaw and implemented a strength and conditioning program, managed the program's social media accounts and organized team study halls.

Before joining the Bobcats, Nycz taught physical education at West Allis Central High School (Wis.) where he also served as the head varsity softball coach and assistant coach for both the boys' basketball and football programs.

Nycz earned his bachelor's of science in physical education and adapted physical education from UWL in 2014. He then went on to get his masters in education with a focus on higher education leadership and athletic administration from UW-Whitewater in 2021.
