Mitchell Collicott is in his third season as an assistant football coach at UW-La Crosse in 2024. He also serves as an assistant sports performance center coach with intercollegiate athletics, responsible for programming, implementing, and supervising sport performance programs.
Collicott works with UWL's defensive line and serves as the Eagles' co-defensive coordinator in 2024. Defensive lineman Jack Kelly and Nate Hietpas both were named to the 2023 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Team with Kelly earning first team accolades and Hietpas honorable mention accolades. Kelly led UWL in tackles for loss (10.5), quarterback sacks (5.0) and quarterback hurries (9). He finished with 36 tackles overall. Hietpas recorded 18 tackles, including 3.0 for loss and 1.5 quarterback sacks.
Linebacker Tanner Newlin earned All-WIAC First Team honors with defensive backs Tate Pitcher (second team) and Aaron Schmitz (honorable mention) all earning honors.
Opponents averaged 338.7 yards of offense in 2023, including 121.9 rushing and 216.8 passing. UWL held opponents to 23.2 points per game.
Collicott arrived at UWL after serving four years as the defensive line coach at Chadron State College (Neb.). He coached two Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) Honorable Mention players in 2021 as the team finished in the top-half of the league in scoring and rushing defense. In the shortened 2020 season, Chadron State (Neb.) was second in the conference in sacks.
Earning his bachelor's degree in 2019 and master's in 2021 from Chadron State (Neb.), Collicott was the Eagles' team captain in 2017. He earned All-RMAC Second Team honors at defensive tackle in 2017 and was an honorable mention selection in 2016. Collicott played in all 11 games in 2017, finishing with 45 tackles, including 4.5 for loss. He recorded 2.0 quarterback sacks, one forced and one fumble recovery. Playing in 11 games in 2016, he registered 54 tackles with 4.5 for loss and 1.0 sack. Collicott played in all but one game over four seasons.
A native of McCook, Nebraska, Collicott was named to the Omaha World-Herald Division II Midlands Team in 2016 and 2017.
