Isaac Fruechte

Isaac Fruechte was named UW-La Crosse's offensive coordinator on January 17.  He joined the UW-La Crosse staff in March 2018 spending the spring season working with the wide receivers and then transitioning in the fall as the quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator.  The Eagles averaged 32.1 points and 384.8 yards of offense per game in 2018, including 135.0 rushing and 249.8 passing.  UW-La Crosse finished second in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) in scoring and passing offense and third in total offense. The Eagles finished 7-3 overall and placed second in the league standings with a 5-2 record in 2018.

A Caledonia, Minnesota native, Fruechte graduated from Caledonia High School in 2010 while playing football, basketball and competing in track & field for the Warriors.  He played an integral role in leading Caledonia to state football titles in 2007 and 2008.  A three-time All-3 Rivers Conference selection, Fruechte earned a pair of Associated Press Honorable Mention All-State honors while at Caledonia. He was a state track & field participant all four seasons.

He continued his football career at Rochester Community and Technical College (Minn.) for one season before transferring to the University of Minnesota to finish his remaining eligibility. He was a second team all-conference choice at RCTC (Minn.).

Fruechte played wide receiver and was on special teams in Minnesota's three consecutive bowl appearances from 2012-14. The Gophers played in the 2012 Meineke Car Bowl, 2013 Texas Bowl and 2014 Citrus Bowl. He served as a team captain his senior season.  He played in 38 games at the University of Minnesota with 18 starts while finishing with 50 catches for 702 yards and three touchdowns.

He earned his bachelor's degree in sports and recreational management from the University of Minnesota in 2014 while being named to the 2013-14 Academic All-Big Ten Team.

Fruechte signed with the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent after his collegiate career where he was a member of Minnesota's practice squad during the 2015 season and transitioned to the active roster in 2016.  During the 2016 campaign, Fruechte left Minnesota and joined the Detroit Lions as a practice squad player for five weeks.

He rejoined the Minnesota Vikings in September 2016 where he finished his NFL career in 2017. Fruechte was promoted to the active roster for the Vikings' regular-season finale versus the Chicago Bears in 2016.
