Frank Tierney

Frank Tierney begins his 27th year with UW-La Crosse's football coaching staff in 2025, working with wide receivers.  He is a 1973 graduate of Manhattan College (N.Y.) where he led the team in receptions and touchdowns as a senior.  Tierney also coached football in his hometown of Mahopac, New York.

He holds a master’s degree from UWL (1998) and retired from the university's Academic Advising Center in 2016.

UWL's Jack Studer and Wyatt LeMoine earned 2024 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) accolades under Tierney. Studer, an all-conference first team choice, was a D3football.com All-Region Second Team selection and named a finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy. LeMoine earned a 2024 All-WIAC Honorable Mention award.

Studer ranks first in school history in career receiving yards (3,127) and touchdowns (35) and finished second in receptions (175). 

Ryan Bartol and Studer were both selected to the 2023 All-WIAC First Team. Studer also earned 2023 Associated Press (AP) All-America Second Team and D3football.com All-America Second Team honors. He was a D3football.com All-Region First Team choice. Studer set a single-season school record with 1,567 receiving yards in 2023.
