1983 NCAA Championship Team
UW-La Crosse captured its first and only NCAA Division III women’s cross country championship in 1983. Competing in just the third year of the NCAA Division III women’s championship era, the Eagles rose to the top with a combination of depth and individual excellence under head coach Gary Wilson. The team was led by standout runner Tori Neubauer, who won the individual national meet, and set the tone for UW-La Crosse’s dominance that season. The 1983 championship included five earning All-America honors. Along with Neubauer’s first-place finish, Carrie Furey was 18th, Julie Peterson 19th, Patty Reynolds 20th and Paula Johnson 22nd.
