Superior, Wis. - After dropping two matches on day one of the Stinger Classic, the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team would respond with two wins as they defeated Marian University (Wis.) and the College of St. Scholastica (Minn.).

- UWL scored the first 12 points of set one and cruised to a set one win by the score of 25-5. Grace Nommensen led the fast start with four kills in the first 12 points. As a team, UWL finished with 17 kills and just three hitting errors in the opening set.
- The second set started very similar as UWL outscored Marian 12-2 to start. Lexi Champeau led the fast start in the second set as she recorded four consecutive service aces. Marian would slowly chip away at the UWL lead using a 12-3 run to pull within 17-15. But that would be as close as Marian would get as the Eagles took the second set 25-22.
- Leading 5-4, UWL used a 5-1 run to open up a 10-5 lead. Then with the Eagles leading 15-10, UWL used another 5-1 run to lead 20-11 to pull away from Marian as they would win the third set 25-16.

- Both teams would trade points as the first set was tied 9-9 before St. Scholastica went on a 4-1 run to lead 13-10. UWL would get two kills from Wilson and one each from Dehnicke and Annie Werner to help spark a 6-3 run to tie it back up 17-17. Trailing 23-20, St. Scholastica would get a kill from Ava Decker and an assisted block by Lilli Rechichi and Bailey Husbands to pull with in one (23-22). However, a Grace Turlais kill followed by a Saints hitting error would give UWL the 25-22 set one win.
- The Saints led 6-3 early in the second set as well as 14-10 midway through before UWL would go on an 8-1 run to lead 18 -15. The Eagles would extend their lead to 22-17 on a kill by Lee; however, the Saints would then score eight of the final nine points including the last six points to win the second set 25-23. The Saints would get two kills and two solo blocks from Carmen McDonough over four of the final five points.
- UWL would respond in set three by opening an early 13-6 lead and eventually extending it to a 20-10 lead. UWL scored six straight at one point including two kills by Dehnicke and a service ace from Lee. The Saints would not get closer than four (24-20) as the Eagles won set three 25-20.
- The Eagles looked in control of the match as they built a 13-8 lead but the Saints did not go away quietly. Trailing 14-10, St. Scholastica scored six of the next seven points to take a 16-15 lead. Back-to-back kills by Lee and Werner put UWL back on top at 19-17 and the Eagles would not trail again as they won the fourth set 25-20.

- Dehnicke and Lee led the Eagles offensively as they finished with 15 and 12 kills, respectively. Lee added 13 digs for a double-double while Dehnicke finished with nine.
- UWL also got eight kills from Wilson and seven from both Turlais and Wener.
- Lund led the Eagles with 24 assists while Champeau finished with 21.
- Once again Jasperson finished with a team high 23 digs.

- The Eagles will be back in action next when they play their home and Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) opener on September 23rd when they host UW-Eau Claire at 7 p.m.
