UWL Advances to WIAC Tournament Championship with Victory over UW-Eau Claire; UWL Set to Host UW-Whitewater in Title Match for NCAA III Bid

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's tennis team advanced to the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament Championship (presented by Culver's) with a 5-0 victory over UW-Eau Claire in Thursday's semifinals at Green Island Tennis Park.

The Eagles, the tournament's top-seed, advance to the championship match and will host second-seeded UW-Whitewater on Saturday, April 23 at 11:30 a.m.  UW-Whitewater advanced with a 4-0 home victory over UW-Stevens Point on Thursday.

The winner of the tournament earns the WIAC's automatic bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III Championships.

UWL improves to 19-2 on the season with Thursday's win while UW-Eau Claire drops to 12-10.  The match was played to decision.

The Eagles earned the doubles point after sweeping the three matches. Tasha Bailey/Shelby Roth defeated Reese Burton/Beatriz Felchak at No. 1 doubles (6-1) while Hannah Cady/Lily Jorgenson beat Delaney Hanson/Kiera Schmid at No. 2 (6-2). Maia Samuelson/Caitlyn Stadter defeated Morgan Briggman/Stella Platt at No. 3 (6-4).

UWL secured the dual victory with four wins in singles. Roth defeated Felchak at No. 2 (6-3, 6-4), Stadter beat Aubrey Wittwer at No. 3 (6-3, 6-2), Jorgenson defeated Ana Paula Ricautre at No. 4 (6-1, 6-0) and Izabelle Brinkman beat Briggmann at No. 6 (6-1, 6-0).

The matches at No. 1 and No. 5 singles were unfinished.

UWL claimed the WIAC regular season title with a 6-0 dual record in the fall. It marked the Eagles' 16th league title in school history and first since 2006. Head coach Bill Hehli has led UWL to four (2003, 2005, 2006, 2025) WIAC regular season championships.

The Eagles finished undefeated in conference duals for the third time in school history (2005, 2006, 2025).
