La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's tennis team improved to 18-2 on the season with a 7-0 victory over Luther College (Iowa) Wednesday in Hetzel Fieldhouse. The Eagles are ranked 33rd in this week's Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III.

Luther (Iowa), ranked 67th in the ITA, drops to 12-8 on the year. 

UWL earned the doubles point with wins in all three matches, including victories by Tasha Bailey/Shelby Roth (No. 1), Hannah Cady/Lily Jorgenson (No. 2) and Maia Samuelson/Caitlyn Stadter (No. 3).

The Eagles swept the six singles matches, all in straight sets. Bailey (No. 1), Roth (No. 2), Stadter (No. 3), Jorgenson (No. 4), Lauren Lindow (No. 5) and Samuelson (No. 6) picked up the wins.

UWL extended its winning streak to five with Wednesday's victory. 

UWL returns to action Thursday, April 23 hosting a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Tournament Semifinal at Green Island Tennis Park. The Eagles, the tournament's top-seed, will host the winner of the first round match between fifth-seed UW-Oshkosh at fourth-seed UW-Eau Claire.
