Brown Deer, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team leads after the third day of action at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championships (presented by Culver's) Friday night at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.
UWL leads with 636.0 points with UW-Eau Claire second with 589.5. UW-Stevens Point is third with 292.5 points followed by UW-Oshkosh fourth with 291.0 and UW-Whitewater fifth with 242.0.
UWL won a pair of individual events on Friday.
Ava Pulvermacher captured the 400 I.M. (4:33.94), becoming the first swimmer to win the title since
Abi Schauske in 2024.
Zoey Rank won the 100 backstroke (56.90). It is the second straight league title for UWL in the event after
Jordy Hahlen won last year.
Ellie Brown, Pulvermacher,
Greta Wiskus and
Libby Cleveland won the 200 freestyle relay (1:33.93) on Friday. It is the third straight event title for UWL. Cleveland was also a member of the first-place relay in 2024 and 2025 while Pulvermacher was on the winning relay last season.
The Eagles'
Lily Rosenau finished fourth (4:45.07),
Abby Gierke seventh (4:50.36) and
Emily Hauke ninth (4:54.27) in the 400 I.M.
Shefali Ramakrishnan was fifth (59.89) and
Libby Cleveland sixth (1:00.16) in the 100 backstroke. Ramakrishnan also finished fourth (58.24) and
Greta Wiskus eighth (1:00.92) in the 100 butterfly.
In the 200 freestyle,
McKenna Biegler was sixth (1:57.90) and
Paige Rundahl seventh (1:57.91).
UWL had five finishers in the top eight in the 100 breaststroke with
Emily Hauke third (1:06.93),
Makenzie Wallace fifth (1:07.46),
Hannah Wadholm sixth (1:08.17),
Ella Stadler seventh (1:08.21) and Aly Wallander eighth (1:08.69).
Action concludes Saturday, February 21 with preliminaries at 10 a.m. and finals at 5:45 p.m.
