La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team is enjoying playing at home as they extended their win streak to four matches as they defeated College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) and St. Norbert College (Wis.) on day one of the UWL Invitational.

- Leading 9-4 in the first set, UWL used a 10-3 run to pull away from the Saints of St. Scholastica. The Eagles largest lead came at 23-8 before the Saints scored five straight but that would be as close as they would get. UWL had six aces as a team including three by Taylor Larson.
- The two teams would trade points back and forth before the Eagles scored three straight to break an 8-8 tie. Trailing 13-11, St. Scholastica scored eight of the next 11points to lead 19-16. An 8-3 run by the Eagles would give them a 24-22 lead but the Saints got back-to-back kills from Ava Swangstue and forced a UWL hitting error to take a 25-24 lead. Both teams would commit multiple hitting errors as the set was tie 27-27 when UWL got a kill from Grace Nommensen and Maddy Wilson to seal the win 29-27.
- In the third set, St. Scholastica used a 7-0 run to take a 12-8 lead. The Saints extended their lead to as big as eight (21-13) before UWL cut their deficit to 23-18. But a Abby Zins kill and a setting error by Eagles gave the Saints a 25-18 win in the third set.
- St. Scholastica took an 8-3 lead before UWL scored four straight including two more service aces by Larson. The Saints used a 5-0 run midway through the fourth set to take a 16-10 lead and UWL did not get any closer than two (24-22).
- UWL scored the first three points of the fifth set and would never trail. A UWL hitting error cut the Saints deficit to 8-6; however, UWL scored five of the next seven points to lead 13-8. Two kills and a service ace by the Saints would cut UWL's lead to 13-11. A hitting error by St. Scholastica and a kill by Kayla Sexton would secure the set (15-11) and match win for the Eagles.
FROM THE BOX SCORE
- Sexton led the Eagles with 16 kills and 17 digs while Annie Werner added 10 kills.
- Nommensen, Reese Yocum, and Wilson each finished with seven kills.
- Megan Lund recorded a double-double with 30 assists 11 digs.
- Defensively, Larson led the way with 26 digs while Nommensen added 16.
- The Eagles finished with 17 service aces as a team led by Larson with 5 and Nommensen with four. The 17 service aces were the most in a match since the Eagles recorded 18 against Bethany Lutheran College (Minn.) on September 6, 2014.

UW-La Crosse 3, St. Norbert College (Wis.) 0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-22)
- UWL opened the first set by scoring six of the first nine points to lead 6-3; however, St. Norbert responded with an 8-2 run to take an 11-8 lead. After UWL took an 18-16 lead, St. Norbert scored four straight to lead 20-18. Back-to-back kills by Grace Turlais would give the Eagles a 23-22 lead. A UWL service error would tie it up at 23 but St. Norbert hitting error followed by a Lund service ace sealed the first set win 25-23.
- The Eagles started the second set with a 6-1 run and extended their lead to 14-6. The Eagles took its largest lead of the set at 18-9 before St. Norbert closed the gap with a 6-2 run to trail 20-15. The Green Knights would not get any closer than five points (22-17) the rest of the way at UWL took set two 25-19.
- St. Norbert scored the first three points of set three and led 9-7 before UWL scored three straight to lead 10-9. St. Norbert retook the lead at 11-10 but UWL would score three straight 13-11. A Nommensen kill would give the Eagles an 18-15 lead. St. Norbert would not go away quietly as they cut their deficit to 21-20 on an Eagle hitting error. Back-to-back kills by Yocum and Sexton gave UWL a 23-20 lead. Annie Werner would record the final two kills for UWL as the Eagles won set three 25-22.
FROM THE BOX SCORE
- Wilson led the Eagles with 10 kills and a team high five assisted blocks.
- Yocum, Sexton, Grace Turlais and Annie Werner each finished with seven kills as the Eagles hit .260 as a team.
- Lund and Kailyn Kurth ran the offense for the Eagles as they finished with 19 and 12 assists, respectively.
- Larson led the Eagles with 11 digs.
