Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin La Crosse volleyball team dropped a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match on Wednesday night as they fell 3-0 to UW-Stevens Point.

HOW DID IT HAPPEN
- UWL would get off to a fast start in the first set as they built an early 6-2 lead. The Pointers would respond with a 10-3 run of the their own to take a 12-9 lead. The Eagles would slowly chip away at their deficit and tie the set at 20-20 on a Grace Nommensen kill. Back-to-back kills by Carly Thomka and Logan Cregan would give UW-Stevens Point a 22-20 lead and they would not trail again as they took the first set 25-22.
- After UWL took a 6-3 lead in the second set, UW-Stevens Point scored nine of the next 11 points to lead 12-8. The Pointers would extend their lead to 17-11 before UWL went on an 8-1 run to take back the lead at 19-18. Trailing 20-19, UWL would force a UW-Stevens Point hitting error followed by a Reese Yocum kill to give UWL a 21-20 lead. Unfortunately for the Eagles their lead was short lived as the Pointers scored the final five points to win the second set 25-21.
- The two teams would trade points to start the third set before the Eagles scored back-to-back points on a Bella Kottke kill and a Pointers hitting error to give UWL a 10-8 lead. Trailing 13-11, UW-Stevens Point scored six of the next nine points to retake the lead at 17-16. A Yocum kill followed by a Sydney Hoeft service ace would give the Eagles an 18-17 lead. UW-Stevens Point responded with three straight kills followed by an Eagle hitting error to put UW-Stevens Point up 21-18. A Grace Turlais kill would pull the Eagles to within 22-20 but back-to-back kills by Thomka put the Pointers up 24-20. UWL would not be able to over come the deficit as they fell 25-21 in the third set.
FROM THE BOX SCORE
- Maddy Wilson led the Eagles with seven kills while Turlais and Kayla Sexton each had six.
- Taylor Larson led the defense for the Eagles as she finished with 22 digs while Sexton finished with 14.
- Megan Lund recorded a double-double for the Eagles as she had 16 assists and 11 digs.

- UWL will play their final regular season game next Wednesday, November 5 when they travel to Menomonie, Wis. to play the Blue Devils of UW-Stout. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
