La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team placed third in a quadrangular Saturday afternoon in its season opener. The Eagles finished with 567 team points while Minnesota State University Mankato won the title with 775 points.
St. Cloud State University (Minn.) was second with 702 points and Truman State University (Mo.) was fourth with 401 points.
Diving competition was held in Mitchell Hall while swimming was held in Rochester, Minnesota.
In Saturday's diving,
Hannah Martini won the three-meter title with a score of 262.45.
Joanne Banaszak was fourth (253.45),
Madison DeBernardo fifth (238.95) and
Madeline Weber sixth (237.40). Banaszak placed second (259.15) in the one-meter with
Abbey Thornton fifth (228.90) and Martini sixth (227.60).
In swimming action, UWL's 200 medley relay of
Libby Cleveland, Mikayla Knaffla, Greta Wiskus and
Ava Pulvermacher were third (1:39.2) with
Zoey Rank,
Makenzie Wallace,
Shefali Ramakrishnan and Cleveland fourth (1:51.49) in the 200 medley relay.

Individually, Wiskus placed second (24.89) in the 50 freestyle and third (54.90) in the 100 freestyle while Cleveland was fourth (24.98) in the 50 freestyle and fifth (55.23) in the 100 freestyle.
Ellie Brown placed seventh (25.36) in the 50 freestyle.
Rank was fifth (1:10.69) in th 100 breaststroke and sixth (2:17.94) in the 200 I.M. Pulvermacher finished fifth (2:01.05) in the 200 freestyle with
McKenna Biegler sixth (5:30.32) in the 500 freestyle.

Abby Gierke finished fifth (2:21.00) in the 200 butterfly with Ramakrishnan sixth (1:00.51) in the 100 butterfly.
Wallace placed fifth (2:34.94) and
Lily Rosenau sixth (2:34.97) in the 200 breaststroke while
Ella Stadler finished eight (2:18.75) in the 200 I.M.
UWL returns to action Friday, October 17 hosting the Maroon & Gray Intra-Squad Meet.
