La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team fell to Central College (Iowa) but responded with a win over Bethany Lutheran College (Minn.) on day two of the UWL Invitational.

- UWL scored the first four points of the match and took an early 11-5 lead. Megan Jasperson started the first set with three service aces in the first four points. Central College would cut their deficit to 13-10 before the Eagles extended their lead back to 18-11. The Eagles would eventually take a 24-19 lead but the Dutch would score seven straight to take the first set 26-24.
- Central took an early 10-6 lead before UWL eventually tied it at 11 in the second set.The Dutch then went on a 6-0 run to take a 17-11 lead and UWL would not get any closer than three (18-15) the rest of the second set.
- The Eagles would take a 7-4 lead before the Dutch scored five straight to take a 9-7 lead. UWL responded with a 5-0 run of their own to make it 12-9 but Central then scored eight straight to make it 17-12. UWL did not go away quietly as they slowly chipped away at their deficit and pulled with in 22-21; however, Central would score three of the final four points to win the third set 25-22.

- Using a 5-1 run, the Vikings turned a 9-9 tie into a 14-10 lead midway through the first set. The Eagles responded with a 7-2 run to take a 17-16 lead. After the Vikings regained the lead (19-17) with a 3-0 run, the Eagles scored eight of the final nine points to win the first set 25-20.
- The second set was a back and forth affair as neither team would lead by more than two points until UWL scored three straight to take a 20-17 lead. With UWL leading 23-20, Bethany Lutheran scored three straight to tie the game and force an Eagles timeout. Back-to-back kills by Gabby Johnson and Paige Geiser would give UWL their final two points and the second set win 25-23.
- The Vikings would get of to a fast start in the third set as they built as early 9-3 lead. UWL would then use a 9-3 run of their own to tie the game at 12. The two teams would trade points back and forth until the Eagles scored four straight to take a 24-20 lead. The Vikings would get back-to-back kills to force an Eagles timeout with the score 24-22. After the timeout, a Bethany Lutheran service error would give the Eagles the final point for a 25-22 win.

- Johnson led the Eagles offense with 11 kills while Grace Nommensen had 15 assists and six digs.
- Taylor Larson led the UWL defense with 15 digs while Ella Luoma added nine.
- Kaitlyn Koel finished with eight kills and Gracie Pierson added seven kills for the Dutch.
MATCH 2
- Reese Yocum and Johnson each finished with 14 kills to lead the UWL offense.
- Jackie Oetterer and Nommensen each recorded 17 assists to set up the offense.
- Luoma led the UWL defense with 22 digs.
- Maddie Meyer led the Vikings with 13 kills while Megan Wegner had 19 digs.

- The Eagles originally scheduled match on September 25th against UW-Whitewater has been rescheduled for October 9th. UWL will be in action next when they travel to Madison, Wis. to play in the Edgewood College (Wis.) Triangular. The Eagles will play Loras College (Iowa) at 2 p.m. followed by Edgewood College (Wis.) at 4 p.m.
