La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Intercollegiate Athletics Department, the City of La Crosse Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Department and 15 area businesses in the building industry held a press conference April 24 for the grand reopening of the Myrick Park Kids Coulee Playground.
A new playground area on the South end and a zip line on the East side were added to the existing playground.
A zip line was added to the playground area.
"I am so grateful to these 15 businesses in the building industry who align with our athletic mission of Building Champions and who demonstrate commitment to the community by their generous investment in the Kids Coulee project," said UWL Director of Athletics Kim Blum. "I am so proud to partner with this group."
Fifteen local businesses are participating in the project. The businesses include:

The financial support of the 15 businesses involved in the project, in partnership with UWL Intercollegiate Athletics and the City of La Crosse Parks, Recreation, & Forestry, has made the playground a reality.
This is the second "Building Champions" project between UWL, the City of La Crosse Parks, Recreation, & Forestry Department and local building business. The "Building Champions Trail", located in Hixon Forest opened in 2017. The "Building Champions Trail", located at N2788 County Rd FA in La Crosse, is 2.13 miles and includes a one-mile educational loop featuring savanna ecosystems, three goat prairies, and three scenic overlooks, as well as information about the plants and wildlife that utilize these areas.
