Eagles Fall to UW-Eau Claire in WIAC Dual; Banaszak Wins Both Diving Events

Joanne Banaszak won both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives
Eau Claire, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's Swim and Dive team had five first place finishes but it was not enough as the Eagles fell to UW-Eau Claire. 

THE BASICS
  • Results: UW-Eau Claire defeated UW-La Crosse 165-135 Results
  • Location: McPhee Center Pool, Eau Claire, Wis.
  • Up next: The Eagles will return home for another Wisconsin Intercolliagte Athletic Conference (WIAC) dual meet as they host UW-Whitewater on November 9th. Diving is scheduled to start at 12 p.m. and swimming at 2 p.m.
THE RESULTS

    DIVING
  • 1-meter -  The Eagles had four of the top five finishers including Joanne Banaszak finishing first. In second place was Hannah Martini while Abbey Thornton finished fourth and Madison DeBernardo in fifth place.
  •  3-meter - Banaszak also won the 3-meter dive and was one of four Eagles in the top five. Martini was second, DeBernardo in fourth and Madeline Weber in fifth. 
    SWIMMING 
  • 200 yard medley relay - The team of Kayla Knaffla, Callie Klepp, Shefali Ramakrishnan and Libby Cleveland finished second in the 200 yard medley relay.
  • 1000 yard freestyle - Amelia Olson was the top Eagle finisher in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:31.75.
  • 200 yard freestyle - Ava Pulvermacher and Emily Schoenbrodt finished second and fourth, respectively in the 200 yard freestyle. 
  • 100 yard backstroke - UWL had three of the top four finishers in the 100 yard backstroke led by Zoey Rank who finished second (1:00.31). In third place was Autumn Seebach (1:00.87) while Jordy Hahlen (1:01.26) was fourth.
  • 100 yard breaststroke - Natalie Austin (1:10.0) finished third in the 100 yard breaststroke while Makenzie Wallace was fourth (1:10.69) and Klepp was fifth (1:10.91)
  • 200 yard butterfly - Abi Schauske (2:21.14) was the top Eagle finisher in the 200 yard butterfly in third place was while Kathryn Hutter (2:21.49) finished fourth. 
  • 50 yard freestyle - Cleveland won the 50 yard freestyle (25.45) while two others finished in the top five. With a time of 25.56, Knaffla finished third while Ramakrishnan (25.92) was fifth. 
  • 100 yard freestyle - Cleveland (2nd, 55.38), Knaffla (3rd, 56.23) and Brooke Laube (5th, 56.57) finished in the top five of the 100 yard freestyle. 
  • 200 yard backstroke - Seebach (2:11.25) and Hahlen (2:14.91) finished first and third in the 200 yard backstroke for the Eagles.
  • 200 yard breaststroke - Wallace (2:35.92) and Rank (2:35.96) finished fourth and fifth in the 200 yard breaststroke. 
  • 500 yard freestyle - Pulvermacher (5:28.39) was the Eagles top finisher in the 500 yard freestyle as she finished second overall.
  • 200 yard butterfly - Natalie Austin (1:00.81) finished second in the 200 yard butterfly while Ramakrishnan was third (1:01.62). 
  • 200 yard IM - UWL took home the top three spots in the 200 yard IM led by Rank with a time of 2:16.11. Pulvermacher was second (2:17.40) and Seebach third (2:17.90). 
  • 400 yard freestyle - The relay team of Cleveland, Knaffla, Lauve and Schoenbrodt finished second in the 400 yard freestyle with a time of 3:43.53.
