UWL Defeats UW-Stevens Point in WIAC Dual; Wins Fourteen Event Titles

The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's swimming & diving team earned a 218.0-82.0 dual victory over UW-Stevens Point Saturday afternoon in the Richard L. Pein Natatorium.

The Eagles won 14 events in Saturday's dual, including sweeping both relays. Jordy Hahlen, Lauren Steien, Emily Schoenbrodt and Libby Cleveland took the 200 medley relay (1:48.77) while Paige Rundahl, Schoenbrodt, Cleveland and Mikayla Knaffla won the 400 freestyle relay (3:40.26). 

UWL swept Saturday's diving as well as Laci Gottschalk won the one-meter (260.85 points) and Madeline Weber the three-meter (277.25). Gottschalk was also second (270.15) in the three-meter. Joanne Banaszak placed third in the one (242.85) and three-meter (257.75) while Hannah Martini was second in the one-meter (251.95). 

In the individual swimming events, Steien won the 200 butterfly (2:15.77) and 200 breaststroke (2:32.73) while Amelia Olson won the 200 (2:01.24) and 500 (5:27.09) freestyle. 

Claire Vandenhouten captured the 1,000 freestyle (11:08.01). 

Hahlen won the 100 backstroke (59.28), Kylee Sommer the 200 backstroke (2:10.09), Mackenzie Wallace the 100 breaststroke (1:10.86), Maddy Albert-Nelson the 100 butterfly (1:02.60) and Autumn Seebach the 200 I.M. (2:15.75). Seebach was also second in the 100 (59.82) and 200 (2:10.89) backstroke. 

Lindsey Evenson was second (25.20) and Sommer third (25.22) in the 50 freestyle while Cleveland placed second (54.72) and Brooke Laube third (56.57) in the 100 freestyle. Reilly Eiynck finished second (2:02.33) and Grace Gilleran third (2:03.52) in the 200 freestyle while Eiynck was also third in the 500 freestyle (5:42.05). Riley Siegle finished third (11:48.33) in the 1,000 freestyle. 

UWL's Emily Hauke was second (2:36.17) and Aly Wallander third (2:37.87) in the 200 breaststroke while Knaffla finished third (2:11.80) in the 200 backstroke. Schoenbrodt placed second (2:18.15) in the 200 I.M. with Liz Warns third (1:03.70) in the 100 butterfly and Sofia Badillo third (2:25.90) in the 200 butterfly.

UWL returns to action Saturday, February 3 at the Dodd Road Diving Invitational in Northfield, Minnesota at 11 a.m. and with a dual at UW-Whitewater at 1 p.m.
