Box Score La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team, ranked 12th on this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll, improved to 7-0 on the season with a 2-0 victory over Wartburg College (Iowa) Wednesday night at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. Wartburg (Iowa) drops to 2-5-1.
It is UWL's best start to a season since winning its first seven games in 1999.
The Eagles took a 1-0 lead at 39:59 on a goal from
Aubree Caya.
Alexis McMahon had the assist. UWL outshot Wartburg (Iowa), 19-2, in the first half while totaling five corner kicks to the Knights' one.

UWL extended the lead to 2-0 at 46:24 after
Maggie Hernandez scored off assists from Chelsa Gale and
Ellie Behnke.
Fifteen players recorded a shot in the game for UWL as the Eagles finished with 39, including 17 on goal. Hernandez had six shots with four on goal.
Ainsley Allan had four shots, all coming on goal, while
Kaitlyn Kurtz finished with five shots.
Jessica Stewart had a pair of shots on goal.
UWL had 13 corner kicks while limiting Wartburg (Iowa) to one.
Sophia Anger earned the win in goal for UWL, playing 52:25.
McKenna Lloyd recorded one save while playing the final 37:35. It is UWL's fifth shutout of the season.
Wartburg (Iowa) totaled three shots with one on goal. Alena Miller had 15 saves for the Knights.
UWL returns to action Saturday, September 23 at second-ranked Christopher Newport University (Va.) at 11 a.m.
