Six Players with Multiple Goals in Home Win over UW-Stout

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse lacrosse team earned a 21-3 victory over UW-Stout Saturday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles improve to 10-4 on the season while the Blue Devils drop to 0-12. 

UWL took a 1-0 lead with 14:43 left in the first quarter on Olivia Wight's free position shot. After UW-Stout tied the game at 1-1 with a Megan Copeland goal with 12:04 remaining, UWL scored the next 11 goals to lead 12-1 at halftime.

Lauren Schwartz gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead with 9:17 left in the second quarter while Ava Schiltz scored a pair of goals in the quarter and Abigail Steigauf scored to give UWL a 5-1 lead after the first quarter. 

UWL outscored UW-Stout, 7-0, in the second quarter. Schwartz had a pair of goals while Wight, Schiltz, Steigauf, Olivia Gscheidmeier and Lydia Spencer all scored in the quarter.  

UW-Stout scored the first two goals of the second half to cut the lead to 12-3, but UWL notched three goals in the third quarter to take a 15-3 lead. MacKenzie Crouse tallied a pair of goals and Steigauf notched the third.

The Eagles scored all of the game's six goals in the fourth quarter. Schwartz scored twice with Spencer, Crouse, Kara Stay and Alyssa Bailey also recording goals.

UWL finished with 51 shots. Schwartz led the Eagles with five goals, two assists, 10 ground balls and 11 draw controls. Schiltz, Steigauf and Crouse each scored three times while Wight and Spencer scored twice. Abigale Furlano earned the win, playing the first half. Emily Hageman recorded two saves in the second half. 

UW-Stout totaled eight shots as three different players scored a goal. Tessa Bailey suffered the loss, finishing with 14 saves. 

UWL returns to action Monday, April 24 at The College of Saint Benedict (Minn.) at 5 p.m.
